Congregation Shaar Hashomayim, founded in 1846 and located in Westmount, Quebec, close to downtown Montreal, is Canada's oldest and largest traditional synagogue.

Welcoming Jews of all levels of observance, we are a vibrant Congregation that adheres to traditional Halacha (Jewish law). Our services feature beautiful music, stimulating learning and a powerful sense of community.

Our Congregation has a strong bond with the State of Israel - a bond that has been strengthened over the entirety of Israel's history. We teach and act upon a sense of responsibility for all members of the Jewish community and for all humanity.

Our facilities are alive seven days a week with a myriad of activities for all
ages: educational, social and musical.

There is something for everyone at the Shaar! We look forward to seeing you!
