The Shaar Hashomayim synagogue is renowned for its extensive facilities. Shaar weddings are described as breathtakingly beautiful and surprisingly affordable. Our Main Sanctuary, with its awe-inspiring central aisle, is recognized as the most magnificent in Montreal.
Our staff, with many years of experience in event planning, provide personalized attention to every detail. We work hard to ensure a memorable experience for you and your guests.
The Shaar building is accessible to those with limited mobility, with ramps and an elevator.
Beautiful Spaces for Every Occasion
The Shaar is considered the premier venue for weddings, B’nei Mitzvah celebrations, community events, tribute dinners, concerts, lectures, and seminars. We offer a range of different sized banquet halls and meeting rooms, from the most intimate to the most lavish.
Main Sanctuary
The Main Sanctuary’s stained-glass windows, stately stone pillars, original wood panelling, and 40-foot tall ceiling make it the most elegant venue in Montreal. The majestic bimah, ark, and choir loft invoke the very essence of Jewish tradition.

Chapel
The Chapel provides a more intimate setting for smaller ceremonies and celebrations such as weddings, Brit Milah, or Baby Namings. Weekday, Friday Night, and some evening holiday services are held in the Chapel. During the quiet months of January and July, most services are held in the Chapel.

Lande Hall
The largest of our two banquet halls, Lande Hall boasts a spectacular chandelier and state-of-the art audio/visual capabilities. This hall is a masterpiece of understated elegance.

Connected by the Paperman Lobby, the close proximity of Lande and Victor Halls makes them ideal for a cocktails/dinner combination.
Goodman and Raby Kiddush Rooms
Ideal for small gatherings and intimate functions. These two rooms have movable walls, which open to create a large space.

Corber, Adelson & Hoppenheim Meeting Rooms
Ideal for meetings, lectures, and classes. These three rooms have movable walls that open to create a large space.

Beutel Rabbinic Suite and Ben Korda Beit Midrash
A suite containing the Rabbinic offices as well as the Ben Korda Beit Midrash, this intimate space is ideal for a private ‘Rabbi’s Study’ wedding.
Bronfman Youth Lounge
This environmentally friendly space with WiFi connection, whiteboards, computers, a big screen TV, and a mini kitchen was created with young people in mind. It is conducive to lounging, meeting, studying, lectures, and classes.
Segal Recreation Center
This full-size gymnasium offers basketball courts, volleyball nets, and sports equipment for athletes of all ages, as well as stages and bleachers for the comfort of spectators.
Deitcher Courtyard
We offer a breathtakingly-beautiful outdoor garden in our private enclosed courtyard. This space can be used for receptions, wedding ceremonies, parties, or BBQs.

Indoor Parking
The Shaar is the only synagogue in Montreal with an underground indoor parking facility. Valet parking is available.
Catering
An experienced and professional in-house catering team can create a custom menu to meet your specific needs. Two fully-equipped kosher kitchens (dairy and meat) can accommodate large-scale functions. All kosher caterers are welcome.
