Weddings
With our majestic Sanctuary, two stunning reception halls, the longest aisle in Montreal, and clergy and staff whose mission it is to make your wedding a meaningful and memorable event, you will want your wedding to be a Shaar wedding.
To be married at the Shaar, both bride and groom must be Jewish. If either bride or groom has been previously married, proof of a get and civil divorce must be presented prior to booking a wedding at the Shaar.
Clergy
The Shaar’s dynamic clergy team is available to conduct your service and to help prepare you for the wedding day and beyond. Alternately, you may invite other approved clergy members to perform the ceremony. All ceremonies that take place at Shaar Hashomayim must be conducted according to the standards of Orthodox Judaism.
If you require further information about the religious component of your ceremony, contact the Rabbi’s Office, tel. 514-937-9474 ext. 143.
Music for Ceremony
A wedding in the Main Sanctuary of Congregation Shaar Hashomayim is an unforgettable experience. The architecture, décor, acoustics, and beautiful music make for a ceremony unlike any other.
The musical repertoire that we offer at Shaar Hashomayim is drawn from a wide selection of Jewish wedding music as well as Israeli and liturgical favourites. You will have the opportunity to choose from a large number of beautiful tracks.
As the guests gather for the ceremony, soft music is played to create a mood appropriate for a wedding. The Cantor normally begins the processional by walking down the aisle while singing. All who are walking in the processional party are given their special moment in the aisle, accompanied by a unique piece of music.
If you require any further information about music for ceremonies, contact Conor O'Neil, Director of Music, tel. 514-937-9474 ext. 122.
Venue
We offer many spaces to meet the needs of your particular ceremony. Couples may choose for their ceremony to take place in the grandeur of our grand Main Sanctuary, the warmth and comfort of our daily Chapel, the outdoor beauty of our Deitcher Courtyard, or the intimacy of our Rabbi’s Study.
