Young Professionals

Offering a wide range of social, educational and cultural opportunities for young professionals in their 20s and 30s

Young Professionals @ The Shaar grew out of a desire to connect – connect with the community, with Judaism and with synagogue life. Since the group was conceived in 2014, YP@The Shaar has been a place for “kehilla” (community), where we come together for Shabbat and holiday meals, study groups, and of course, some great parties. The group is for singles, couples, and everyone in between. We hope you will take advantage of all that is offered.

Programs and Classes

Shabbat Dinners

Gather on Friday night for a warm and friendly Shabbat dinner. With good food, great people and plenty of wine, this is a perfect way to take a break from Bubbe’s table. Ask about our “Shabbat Comes to You” program, where dinners are hosted by YP members in their homes around the city.

Young Professionals Study Group

Hosted in participants homes, this monthly study group meets to discuss Jewish texts and ideas. Sessions are led by the Shaar clergy. Always open to new and returning participants. The Shaar YP Study Group is generously sponsored in memory of Julius L. Aber.

MAKOM: Prayer Experience

An opportunity to connect with prayer in a personal way. Using readings, brief prayers and niggunim (wordless melodies), Makom will offer a space for mindful reflection and contemplation.
