Amidst these difficult days we must exert ourselves in order to give in return as much as we have received. As long as memories of the past and hopes for the future pass from generation to generation, life will always go on. Our family lives with an attitude of gratitude.

We are so grateful to the clergy, staff, and volunteers of our Synagogue who are reaching out daily to our members in so many positive ways and keeping us connected during this challenging time. We are very proud to be a part of the Shaar’s community.

I was very apprehensive about spending the sedarim alone for the first time in my life. But it was easy, thanks to the delicious Pesach meals including the symbolic food for the Pesach plate, all supplied by the Shaar, and the Canadian Haggadah canadien. So thank you, todah rabah, v’merci.

Congregation Shaar Hashomayim is a house of worship. During this very difficult time you Rabbi Scheier, Gideon, Yosi, Roï, Rachel, the entire Shaar staff, and your spouses, have made it a home. A home for the many of us in the Shaar Community whose immediate family live out of town. While remaining connected via Zoom and FaceTime technology is not a substitute for the “real thing”. As we wait patiently in isolation for the “ new normal”, it is comforting to know that there is a larger community out there who cares. Todah Rabah.

I am grateful to my family for being so caring. However, I am most grateful to my son and his wife who are doctors in NYC at major hospitals for being on the front lines and taking care of those who are most needy. I send them a positive text everyday to express how proud and grateful I am for being so caring of human kind. I am also grateful to their two young children for accepting that their parents cannot always be there for them.
